Chopper Spirals Out of Control into Palm Fronds at Well-Known California Coast
An aircraft hovering near a well-attended southern California coastline abruptly commenced twirling out of control, finally losing altitude and crashing into a line of palm groves as beachgoers watched.
Recordings posted on social media capture the aircraft beginning to twirl over Huntington Beach then plunging in the direction of the edge of the coast, where it gets stuck among palm trees and a set of stairs near the Pacific Coast highway.
Emergency Response Update
Emergency responders said five people were taken to hospital including a pair who were in the chopper and were “rescued from the debris” following the incident on Saturday.
Three individuals on the pavement were hurt. Information on their wounds were not immediately available.
The cause of the crash was not yet disclosed.
