The athlete recorded her fastest time of 1:54.61 last year in the British capital.

Keely Hodgkinson finished her two-lap campaign with a win at the women-only Athlos meet in NYC on Friday evening.

{The reigning Olympic champion, who earned third place at the global championships recently, excelled in an outstanding win in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a year impacted by a hamstring injury.

Fellow Briton and global silver winner Georgia Bell finished second again in 1:58.33, while St Vincent's Shafiqua Maloney (1:58.57) secured third place.

"I haven't competed much this season so it was probably less of a struggle for me to go out there and want to give it something," stated the 23-year-old.

"The atmosphere out there is incredible so it was really, really fun."

The female-exclusive meet packed the stadium in its second edition, introducing a festive vibe to traditional track, with musical performances and special crowns replacing traditional winners' medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is married to Athlos founder Alexis Ohanian, was present to award the winners with their tiaras.

Previous champions took home sixty thousand dollars (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - one of the largest prize purses in athletics.

The competition also drew several top athletes, as the Kenyan three-time Olympic gold medallist and global record breaker Faith Kipyegon triumphed in the mile race, crossing the finish line in 4:17.78.

American Brittany B., the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, won the sprint double.
