Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Arrives, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a popular character from the first movie.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will feature once again of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive close to the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases already confirmed for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
