In the episode, a flashback reveals that fan-favorite personality Alastor the Radio Demon was a mass murderer in his human life. Being aware he was destined for Hell, he made contact with the realm beyond beforehand to secure a powerful role in Hell. Rosie, the charismatic leader Hell’s cannibal community, promised Alastor he would become “the strongest Sinner in Hell” in exchange for his soul.

This raises the question: How is Rosie powerful enough to elevate Alastor over every other Sinner Demons?

“The Rosie and Alastor deal is the initial building block in a larger narrative that involves a great deal, leading into season 3,” the creator states. “Clearly that is an excellent question: How is she that powerful? The answer might be various factors, but the answer is in season three. I am thrilled for fans to witness it.”

There’s no telling how long the audience will have to remain for Hazbin Hotel’s next season. The production companies have green-lit the third and fourth seasons, but the showrunner often remarks that animation is a slow, lengthy process, and subsequent seasons have no release dates yet. Still, she states holding off on specific information is a crucial aspect of maintaining season 2’s focus where it belongs.

“The difficulty of any agreement with demons, or stories that have mysteries, is giving the audience just enough information to be like, Something's up here, and then revealing that gradually, and letting that be satisfying,” she says. “So I am quite eager.”

Mysteries Resolved in The Next Season

The creator assures that season 3 will tackle the queries followers have been asking, like why the cannibal leader ordered Alastor to vanish for seven years, which diminished his power in Hell.

“The whole seven years, and the pacts these individuals are making, and everything — it's feeding into a bigger narrative,” she says.

Meanwhile, the origin story episode provides another glimpse into how the core cast of Sinner Demons appeared as as humans, following after viewing Sir Pentious’ historical mortal appearance in episode 2. She says that a lot of thought was put into the visual creation of these forms.

“The human versions of the characters hold great significance,” she notes. “They range from looking quite distinct from their infernal version to looking almost identical. With Pentious, the first one we see, there was some internal discussion within the team between going with a design that represents the character, versus selecting an option that's historically correct. We leaned toward creating something that just seemed like it was him.”

She says the biggest debate over Pentious’ human design was his long hair: “We were like, ‘No one typically had extended hair of that style in that historical period.’ But simultaneously, we think the outline is so important, and we also just thought he looked good. We were like, ‘This just feels right.’ We sort of provided the rationale that he lived in seclusion, so he just allowed his hair to lengthen. So there is always a solution. As we design the mortal forms of these characters […] it's such a fun thing to investigate and figure out. I'm excited for fans to view additional of what the human forms look like.”
